MPI St. Louis welcomes Angela Powers. She is the Corporate Catering & Conference Services Manager at Magnolia St Louis – A Tribute Portfolio. She has been with the property for four years, in this industry for nine years and joined MPI three months ago.

When asked how she got into this business, Angela says, “I had a roommate who worked at the Westin St. Louis while I was in college. At the time, I was working at a local record store and needed something that paid a little better. She suggested I apply for a front desk position at the Westin and I got the job. I moved from front desk to night audit to valet and room service. I was then promoted to Front Desk Supervisor and at one point, worked for both the Sheraton City Center and Westin at the same time.”

After studying Human Resource Management at Lindenwood University, Angela received a position in the field elsewhere. She left the hotel world all together to utilize her degree. It did not take long to realize that crunching payroll numbers and managing new hire paperwork was not the chaos of the hospitality industry. Angela missed that, so she came back to the industry as a Front Office Manager at the Sheraton Clayton. Then was recruited to work at the beautiful new boutique, Magnolia St. Louis as their Corporate Catering & Conference Services Manager. Angela has since developed a real passion for planning events.

She has attended a few MPI Programs. She enjoys the education, networking and creating relationships. She is actively pursuing her CMP certificate.

Angela grew up in Belleville and Collinsville, Illinois. She recently got engaged. In her spare time, she sings blues and soul in a local cover band. Angela also enjoys gardening and spending time with family and her dog Dot and cat Owen. Her binge watch right now is “Bates Motel.”

Please join us in welcoming Angela to MPI.
